Northern Inn & Steak House

I had a business trip to Thompson this fall and the fellow I was meeting suggested the Northern Inn and Steak House for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was centrally located and easy to find. The lunch menu was varied. I chose a clubhouse sandwich and soup. The sandwich was great. The soup was homemade and tasty. My companions had sandwiches made with homemade bread. Alas, it wasn't an option for me because, with the triple decker nature of the clubhouse, it would be too big to eat. The waitress was friendly and answered our questions and made suggestions. The service was prompt even though the restaurant was crowded for the noon rush. I would eat there again any time.

Had a great dinner there with some friends. The pickerel was the special and it was very tender. I forgot about the huge plates and huge portions so i ordered the salad bar instead of the soup. I could not finish the plate. I had breakfast there years ago which is when i first found out about their large serving sizes and huge plates - and toast with everything. Very reasonably priced, nice family dining.

I go to Northern with friends almost every Sunday morning. It is a very busy place with a variety of different things to choose, so it often causes food to take a bit longer. If you are in a rush, go for fast food. If you are patient and want to enjoy a delis breakfast and good conversation, this is the place for it!

Nothing fancy, and the place is a dump but there breakfasts are excellent. Fresh home made bread, huge hearty portions, and properly cooked food at a fair price. The service was not great and the place over crowded with tables...but busy...very busy...no doubt because the breakfast was good.

Food was delicious and had an amazing time with family. Service was quick and staff was friendly. It was a wonderful experience !
