Nicolino's - Table reservation

We had dinner with friends. Service was the worst that we have experienced in many a long time with lengthy delays and staff who were so disorganised as to be unbelievable. After waiting for a lengthy time both for our drinks and starters, halfway through...eating the starters our main courses arrived which we immediately rejected. Then, having finished our starters, dishes were immediately collected. We asked the waitress to wait for ten minutes before bringing our main courses. Thirty seconds later the main courses were brought which we again sent back! After minutes two main courses were brought but not the other two so we told our friends to start lest their food became cold. Ten minutes later the remaining two main courses (King prawns with rice) arrived. One of the meals had a single king prawn and the other had none both had ordinary prawns. Both meals were cold so they were sent back. Five minutes later they were returned having obviously been heated in the microwave. However, the relevant kitchen staff had not seen fit to remove the lemon slices from the plates before placing in the microwave, so you can imagine what happened and it was almost inedible. In any case is it a good idea to reheat prawns in the first place? At this point we decided to give up. The bill was presented but to the credit of the staff they did then voluntarily remove the cost of the two main courses and at our request the service charge. Staff were clearly poorly trained and one waiter in particular gave a strong impression that he just didn’t want to be there. And what, exactly, were the chef and kitchen staff thinking? So, a very bad experience and if readers haven’t realised already we won’t be going back anytime soon.

We went to Nicolinos for my birthday dinner and since we went last, we have had the Covid epidemic and the ownership of Nicolinos has changed. The food and service was as good as ever just look at my filet steak dish and...my wife’s chicken dish! Both were excellent and were greatly enjoyed. The garlic bread remains the best we have eaten. It is very pleasing that food quality has remained first class with the new owners. A service charge is now applied which replaces the cash tips we used to give I prefer to tip rather than pay service charge. However, since the menu continues to offer good choices and the food and service is first class, this eating emporium deserves their , so thank you very much. Ps. Check the photos!

Excellent menu with lots of choice. Service was friendly despite being a busy Saturday night. Seafood risotto had an abundance of seafood and was a very generous portion size as was the pollo della casa. Glad we had not had starters so we were able...to finish our mains and share a lovely pud. Lovely night out and we will definitely visit again.

Under new ownership but still high standards! Two brothers front of house, Serhat and Deniz, could not have done more to make this a day to remember! Great to see that this Emsworth institution is still making memories!

Amazing ambiance the charming waiters were absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Food was lovely better size portions. Definitely recommend this place
