I recognise that after visiting Tokyo a few times I have developed an addiction for the humble ramen. Looking for a good one in Vienna is not as simple as it should be, because ramen has not become (yet) a favourite choice for a satisfying, tasty and relatively cheap lunch; Toronto is a good example of a city where ramen has become a popular meal in the last few years. Let' s go back to the subject: we love Mochi on Praterstrasse- the big brother in Mochi's family- as well as Mochi o.m.k.- my address of choice for Japanese take-out food when I am not in the cooking mood, but until today we never went to the Mochi Ramen Bar. I am really glad we did: the agedashi tofu was light and interesting with a foam of radish and the two ramen we had-wan tan and spicy chicken- were tasty, served in big bowls anc accompanied byba pleasant and prompt service. With two beers, the bill came at around 35€, not bad at all. The atmosphere was friendly, the waiters and chef/ cooks were chatting among themselves in at least three languages and addresed us immediately in English, offering also English menus. The service was really pleasant and unobtrusive and we managed to exchange with the you g lady who appeared to be the shift manager some impressions about other Viennese restaurants. The kitchen is open, with hanging pots and pans, a wooden bar, so you can observe them while preparing your food. It is one of the bestramen in Vienna, no doubt and we will go back for more.. I am looking forward to trying other offerings from the short, but well-thougt menu. Let me know if you like it too?

Arguably one of the best ramen shops I’ve tried in Europe. The tonkotsu is rich and on point, its chashu is at the perfect balance between bouncy and tender, with a smoky torched flavor. The half-boiled egg is also warm and yolky, unlike many other places. The karaage as a starter is also very tasty with a crispy outside and juicy inside. I’d totally come back to Vienna just for this place.

Very tasty Ramen, although it’s a bit fashion (with takuwan which I’ve never seen in ramen before) but the soup, chashu and ni-tamago (soft egg) which is the soul of ramen did not change. It’s like a bar, simple but still very Japanese style. The Ramen with 4 pieces of fire grill chashu, black garlic oil which make the soup taste differently. And it’s very worthy to come and try.

Been there three times in my week in Vienna, everything is superb, from the front of house staff to the delicious food. The chefs will also sometimes serve you the food which is always a nice touch. I tried ALL the menu and there isn't a dish I wouldn't recommend. Hope to go a fourth time before I leave!
