Matthews Cafeteria

The back/side parking of the restaurant is set-up for drive thru/to-go orders so parking can be a bit of a mess, but we were able to get a spot in about 5 mins [we got stuck in the to-go lane] We walked in and there was a line of about 15 people. We waited in line for about 2 mins, it moved quick. The dessert bar cold sides is up first. Followed by the hit mains/sides. Sundays menu is uploaded to their FB page and are charged by the item. I got the strawberry shortcake my hubby got the custard pie followed by turkey dressing, fried chicken, green beans, Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy deviled eggs, country fried steak, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, collard greens with 1 sweet tea 1 lemonade The food was great. The chicken had a good crunch, the gravy had good flavor, I loved my turkey/dressing and all the sides were delicious. I had way too much. I'll definitely be back because the owner was nice, came from behind the kitchen and was engaging with everyone there. The staff was very fast and super friendly. Can't wait to taste some of their other menu items.

Walked over because the line at Hot Betty’s was long. This place is cute if you want to get your southern fix. Tons of options to choose from. You pay per item. Disappointed they didn’t have brunch foods, but was okay with the selection.

Quality and vibe still the same after my first visit here in a few years. One of the best Southern cooking cafeterias around! Fried chicken and mashed potatoes were awesome! Thank you for surviving the pandemic!

This is the real deal! Southern Cafeteria with amazing food at great prices. This should be a tourist destination. Love this gem

We love Matthews. I have eaten there all my life. I could eat there every day if I lived in Tucker still.
