We popped into Mai Sushi on a whim and were seriously impressed. As with many sushi places in London it has an unimpressive exterior. But the food is excellent, the service friendly and fast, and the price very reasonable. I had a sashimi salad, which is an excellent idea for a dish and one that I'd not had before. Personally I'd have gone for more of an asian veg salad, but the plain salad ingredients are more than compensated for by an excellent dressing. The sashimi itself was very good. My partner is vegetarian, so sushi places are often difficult. But the veg sushi with pickles was very good, as was the grilled tofu.
I stopped to have lunch here because I was in the neighborhood and I was surprised about how good my meal ended up being. Even though Mai Sushi doesn't look like much from the outside, the food they have is authentic and the quality of their fish is quite good. If you're sitting outside they will sometimes forget about you and you'll mostly have to work to get the attention of the waiters. However, the sushi is really tasty and their prices are very reasonable. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if you're in the area it's quite a good place for sushi.
I came here in the late evening on a weekday to try the sushi out. The food was great and the restaurant was easy to find, the overall service was nice as well. The food came pretty quick but it would have been nice to be able to try the green tea ice cream out. Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Speed 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5
Your nice cozy neighbourhood Japanese restaurant. I only ordered the seafood yakisoba and I feel like it didn’t have enough yakisoba sauce. I wanna go back and try their sushi boats.
