My family and I attempted to have lunch here in July 2016. I say “attempted” because I never actually got any food! First, the service here is really slow, even by more relaxed European standards. We waited a long time to order or receive any drinks or food. The two waiters seemed overwhelmed. We got our drinks and food for our children. However, they forget to bring the food for my wife and I. Once I got tired of waiting, I sought out the servers and they admitted the mistake and apologized. While I appreciated their sincerity, we needed to go, and I left without receiving my meal. I did not receive a discount for their mistake, and I paid full price for our drinks and childrens’ plates. I will not return.
Service was a bit obligatory, not really personal attention. Waitresses were busy with other things than the guests, Wanted the check, but no waitress to be seen. Went to the cash register to pay and even there there was nobody, for several minutes...Food was OK, not bad, but nothing special, I could have done it myself (and I am not a great cook)Good chice of wines, Somewhat funny order of the menu, starting with coffee and desert, then the wines and then the starters and main courses, but oh well .
Recommended by our hotel, M7 didn't disappoint. The magnificent situation on the town square overlooking the superb town hall is already a plus. Service original and warm. Food an interesting mixture of clever ideas: the geschnetzeltes we had wouldn't have been recognized in Zurich (veal cut in too big pieces and too much cream in the sauce) but it was a very successful take on a traditional recipe. Nice wine selection for those trying to break out of the German staples.
M7 offers 2 vegetarion and even vegan dishes - a rare event in Saxony-Anhalt. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and helpful, the prices moderate, the location itself kept very nicely.
