Not much to add to previous high score feedbacks. It is indeed very simple place where two ladies do their magic: and Valerie the Chef is exceptional. This bar/bistrot serves a menu which is defined by Valerie herself so, no long several pages menu . But this Menu du Jour is made from fresh products and from heart. Today it was: Salade from vegetables for starter, Catalan meat balls with potatoes in tomato sauce main dish and fried banana with creme and chocolate cake small cut pieces for desert. House wine was good too. If you want to touch real French home made cooking it is here. The best we could do was to leave plates empty and absolutely clean, so good was everything and especially sauce! Valerie and Jeanine who runs the place are very social, sorry for Jeanine we did not speak French, but Valerie speaks good English and even opened her small secret of meat balls and sauce but we keep this secret! . This place is from those which makes life better, sky brighter and maybe helps a bit to know and love France and its people more and better. Definitely part of our hearts stays there.

Janine runs the bar and Valerie does the cooking (with her husband as assistant . We've been here four or five times in the last four months and they always remember us (and our dog! and want to have a good chat. If I were a single person new to the area I'd come here once a week for my dose of homeyness. The three course meal on offer each day is 15 euros now (inflation has hit them too , and it's wonderful value for money. You may or may not have a choice between two entrees and two mains or maybe not, depending on the day, but for sure the food is always good, servings are generous and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Lots of Catalan influence in the food. Different kinds of meatballs are often on offer, but always different and tasty. The desserts are usually a selection of a number of homemade pastries. Very filling. Drinks are really reasonable. Great sangria. This is not fussy haute cuisine, but well made food and both women love what they do.

Janine's lovely bar in St Cyprien is a great place to spend an evening with friends, with quirky décor and a great hostess. It's not actually a restaurant but deserves a visit

Valerie cooks from the heart. We ate here last year and looked forward to a return visit. We were not disappointed. A hidden gem in a small village that deserves a visit.
