We were staying at a nearby Table d 'Hote which wasn 't serving every night. They booked us at the Brasserie at the Mercure. A slightly better than average hotel meal at a slightly higher price. But the real annoyances bring the score down. It was a dark and rainy night. We were compelled to park in a large parking lot well below the hotel-the hotel parking area was jammed-with cars and golf carts. Walking up slippery steps, we resolved to walk the long way back along the road-which was also slippery and with minimal lighting. The wait staff was pleasant enough and appeared to be working quite energetically-even though the restaurant was only half full. Can 't say the same for the kitchen. Close to two hours for our three course meal. The starter (soup) and dessert (fresh fruit salad) were fine. The Sea Bass appeared to have come out of the sea a long time ago. We have no interest in golf. The atmosphere and fairly austere tables didn 't inspire, although the view over the golf course probably would cause palpitations with someone who likes to chase those little balls. So I high priced meal in what looked life the coffee shop .
