Went here on recommendation and it was dreadful. The food was bland, the restaurant filthy and the owner surly. Not impressed at all. This is a small place with a few tables, and these are sandwiched between the bar area and the pavement tables. Both of these seem to attract the local talent, if you could call it that. Drunk and loud is about the best description for them. That these seem to be friends of the owner fits with his own attitude. This was put to us as an authentic French Restaurant, yet is nothing more than a greasy spoon, though it is not cheap. Two other restaurants nearby, Les Truffieres near Tremolat and Les Maronnieres at Lanquais offer a far far superior dining experience and pleasant evening for the same price. Both of these I would highly commend but P'tit Loup was shockingly bad.

This is a unique review; never have I chosen a venue before where once the carafe of water has been emptied one finds the inside covered with grime that clearly shows both a lack of cleaning goes on or adequate inspection before being offered to customers. The waiter's response was to pass it off as calcium deposits. Simply not true. Then the bread arrived and once it had been remove the black grease on the 'silver' bowl revealed itself in all its tarnished glory; enough to turn one's stomach and certainly enough to put off the eating of what appeared to be a nicely cooked meal of sea food; how could one safely eat such a dish having witnessed the lack of hygiene already displayed.I shall not return.

On a late Sunday night when almost everything was closed in the area we were almost forced with this only choice, the kitchen had just closed, the owner was very helpful and got his worker to work overtime, we only had limited choices, the meal we had was simple and delicious, the music was upbeat and lounge and it turned out to be a great evening, we would go back and enjoy the hands on hospitality.

We ate here when the brasseries on the square were closed due to torrential rain. This little place is cosy but won't be for everyone. The service was a bit monosyllabic/ abrupt and the table cloths stained but that didn't detract too much. Food was fine, not exceptional but did the job. I would probably recommend this place for a drink or two in a very local joint.
