We found that during the Christmas holidays it was hard to find a place to dine in Arras that wasn't overly touristy. Found Le Petit Theatre on Tripadvisor, and since we are always Italian fans (and had had a lot of good French food during the trip), we came here. What a nice, local, and delightful surprise. It is clearly a small, family-type place with one waitress and many tables, but she is incredible and the kitchen made up for any delays that came because they were FULL with local diners all evening. We were in different moods, so one of us dined "French," with Maroilles croquettes and a perfectly made onglet a l'echalottes (steak frites). The other had a wonderful small Printanière salad with many goodies and spaghetti au Chef. All were great, except the pasta which met French standards (overcooked pasta and a bit too creamy sauce), but wouldn't stack up in Italy. Overall, though, it was delicious and charming. This is not haute cuisine, but for a relaxed and completely enjoyable meal in Arras with lots of locals and terrific service, this is the place!
