Greeted well and seated promptly seated on the veranda overlooking the vista around Penne D’Agenais to the south. Given menu, the male server took our order and explained the menu of the day. Each course arrived promptly and was excellent both in presentation and taste, good portion size. Three things in some way spoilt what was a great lunch. 1. I begrudge and won’t pay for bottle of win costing as much a our food for lunch, no carafe available a glass was. 2. The female server was very automated, non verbal and non-smiling (as though she didn’t enjoy her job or being there. 3. On checking our bill we found it wasn’t ours, quickly rectified, this is not the first time of heard of it happening at this restaurant. After my rant I would still go back and would recommend for lunch, but beware.
we were two couples in our sixties. the restaurant is located in a lovely location within walking distance of the centre of town. it has a large terrace with great views good for the summer. as it was November we sat inside in contemporary surroundings. The menu was limited to the plat du jour for lunch which had a choice of two starters, two mains and two desserts all very nice. We hd the impression that had we needed vegetarian it would not have been a problem although not on the menu. Local table wine was really nice. the cost was very low for such a nice lunch. Service was by a very friendly waitress in fct it was just her and a chef. There were about 20 people for lunch on a Tuesday.
What a great spot to sit and enjoy an evening, the views are stunning and so is the food. Visited a couple of times during a one week stay in the area and we were all very pleased with our food drink and the service. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked, so was the fish and duck. Presentation is excellent. Service is prompt and friendly and happy to help out my appalling french by speaking English. Good selection of wine, poor selection of gin unfortunately, the french do not seem to have caught onto the uk’s recent fascination with gin. Fantastic evening, loved it and can not recommend it highly enough.
I first visited this excellent restaurant with my eldest daughter in July. I was so impressed that I took my wife in August. The food was excellent especially the set menu. The staff were very helpful and enthusiastic and the view from the terrace is wonderful, we will all definitely go back again.
