We ended up at Le Kayola when our first choice was closed and our second was fully booked. Fate has a funny way of working out sometimes as we were rewarded with a warm welcome and a wonderful meal. I think we were the only...non-locals in the entire restaurant, but were made to feel very much a part of those gathering for Sunday lunch. We opted for seafood from the a la carte menu as we weren't quite prepared for the menu which included a plat of ris de veau (sweetbreads). The tapas portion of calamari was large and packed with flavour. Our main courses were flambeed gambas (very large, whole shrimp) and a seafood salad that had very generous amounts of shrimp, tuna and calamari. We were delighted to be offered bowls of potage (soup) by the caring server who explained our main courses would take a bit of time. Dessert was a crusty, tap worthy, creme brulee with a whirl of fresh cream topped with a homemade almond tuile. If we had discovered this gem earlier in our stay, we would definitely have returned for lunch during the week which is a fantastic deal at only euro. The entree buffet was swoon worthy itself!!! We both felt the restaurant would be lovely and cosy in the cooler weather and would love to return.
