Looking for a post Christmas lunch not too far from the local train station might not be the best way to have a gourmet experience, but Le Gourmandin delivered in spades!!We were a table of five friends going our separate ways after celebrating Christmas together. Opting for the 31€ Menu du Marché we we all enjoyed four courses of absolute perfection. I started with the tricolour of fish and the others relished truffle scented gnocchi, after this came pigeon breast in a red wine jus, or, for me, a delectable plate of sole monkfish and limone. Highlight of the cheese menu were the tiny individual goat cheeses served melting hot in a warm bath of honey - how we all managed to follow with glorious desserts after this is truly remarkable. We left after shaking hands with the chef feeling truly "restored" by his wonderful food, but isn't this what restaurants should all be doing??
