"This beautiful restaurant is set in an idyllic sunken garden. The welcome was friendly and the menu du jour at just 16 euros was a gastronomic delight. We were only one of two couples dining but to be honest that added to the tranquillity of the place. This was a absolute find off a busy road through a not particularly attractive town."

Chosen as the venue for a mid week holiday evening meal, we were not disappointed either by the standard of food or service. The restaurant is accessed by a stone stairway a short distance from the car park, to a sunken outside courtyard where both interior and exterior dining are offered. We were given a very warm welcome and dined in the exterior courtyard which was full with a mixture of locals and tourists of various nationalities. From a relatively limited dinner menu we chose the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection, served with a small portion of mash and country vegetables and presented very well. Our meal was accompanied with a very nice bottle of white wine from the local Valdition vineyard.Deserts were pleasant and complimented the main menu. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience with great food, great service in a uniquely French setting. I would reserve in advance to guarantee a table.

We have been here twice and both time we have left saying we must go back more often. The food is wonderful, and the owner charming. They do a set priced menu in the evening for around 28 Euros and the food is inventive, fresh and always delicious. The restaurant is down some stairs in a sunken courtyard, but has an inside area too in case it rains. My only quibble with the restaurant is that the wine list is a little pricey, but next time I will ask to see if they do house wine by the pichet. We did get a little bitten by mosquitoes so I recommend wearing long sleeves or repellent, but this is a problem endemic to this region and not particular to the restaurant.

We had eaten here at the beginning of our stay and really enjoyed it, so booked again for our last night. However, the meal took three hours from start to finish (OK, we were on a menu and could have chosen to go a la carte, but that would have been way more expensive). By the end we had pretty much lost the will to live. The restaurant was by no means full and of course the outside terrace was not being used so we can only think that they were short-staffed. Presentation, taste, flavour and service were again top class.

This was a real find. We had a delicious meal with our three children (9,7 and 20 months). The owner /only waitress was delightfully engaging and they were very accommodating to divide an adult dish between the children. We had pork curry in an edible basket, duck, cod dishes. All were tasty and well presented. Of note was the fantastic chorizo jam! This place is not far off the motorway and definitely worth a stop.
