We first ate at Le Clocher 5-6 years ago, and adored it. The food is still excellent (our starters, mains and dessert were all first rate) but the restaurant fails so badly on the other aspects that I cannot recommend the place.1) We were the only diners on a Sunday night. Not a good sign. We had reserved a few weeks ago.2) The door was propped open on a February night. Although we closed the door when we came in, the temperature in the restaurant was about 14C. It rose a little during dinner, maybe to 16C. We had to eat wearing our coats, which is unacceptable in place costing over 150 euros for two.3) The special wine was a 1999 Bandol. I love Bandol, especially old Bandol. So I asked the waiter if it was OK and had been cellared properly. He said yes. But when he opened it the cork broke (usually a sign of improper storage) and the wine was very sour to taste. Not corked, but oxidised. He made no fuss about us sending it back, but still annoying.4) And the only other Bandol red wines they had to offer were low quality, running about 34 euros per bottle. Good Bandol costs a little more than that in a restaurant.
