A smart but warmly decorated restaurant which made us very welcome when it was teeming down with rain.The starters came with lots of diced salad and a filet of red mullet. We followed this with a shank of salt-marsh lamb beautifully tender and delicately flavoured, or lovely flakes of cod with a puree of butternut squash served on a bed of diced potatoes and carrots. We finished with a delicious diced apple in calvados on a lightly grilled fat-less sponge served with an apple-in-cider sorbet
This restaurant is rather small - about 10-15 tables. The setting is cosy and reservations are recommended. I was tempted by this restaurant to try some upscale food. However, I was a little disappointed. For instance, the side salad was the same for both the dishes I had. Although good, the dishes were also a bit blunt. I would have expected something more refined from this place; hence the average rating. I would just not recommend it (yet).
Our server didn't speak English but tried so hard to make our meal as perfect as possible. The old was fantastic. I had the steak as part of my four courses which was perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic. We were told to book which we did. The restaurant was fairly busy but the meal was not rushed. The wine selection was fantastic, we spent as much on wine as we did on food!
We enjoyed a very good dinner here over Easter. My soup was a little tepid but other than that everything was fine, fresh and delicious. The service was friendly too. Sirloin steak was excellent and perfectly cooked. Nice fish dishes too.
