Lava Rock Bar Grill

Even with reservations we waited minutes to seat. Over hour for any server to stop and greet. Drinks were not offered we had to ask. It seamed like neither of the two servers knew who was managing our table. So neither did. The host came by confused and apologetic stated someone would be with us momentarily and she stated it was her fault. From that point on thing got better but we had already been there well over an hour and still hadn’t ordered. Finally we did and the food was served. The steaks were very good. Side of peppers and onions were about raw luckily the steak is served on a molten brick of ? lava? And putting vegetables on that to cook worked. I don’t like to give bad reviews. Usually if I have a bad experience I let it slide but this was our wedding anniversary to Maui and Lava Rocks did not make it special

Steak was terrible. Dry, tough, the sides looked and tasted day old. Drinks were fine. Fries app was fine. Frozen fries with a nice sauce on top. The pictures online seemed to indicate this is a fine dining establishment. Very much not the case. It’s a dive bar. Maybe a fun dive bar. But that wasn’t what we expected to walk into. Maybe the pub grub dishes would be better but we were intrigued by the Lava Rock steak and it was just an overpriced gimmick. Better steak from Outback Steakhouse. Tables and restaurant felt a little too dirty for covid times. Maybe in previous times we would have had fun having drinks in a hopping dive. That’s not what we expected we booked and in current times not at all what we are interested in

The food was good but the service and ambiance ruined this experience. We were sat on the balcony with the table against the wall with the sun directly facing of the chairs. The waitress was kind but seemed overwhelmed with tables which led to some in our party never receiving refills. There were exceptionally loud tables around us but even had we been near people who speak at normal volumes, I feel like it would have still been loud

Very good food. Excellent service. Open, covered rooftop dining. Had Lobster, Spinach, Artichoke dip, Coconut Shrimp, and Kahlua Pork Quesadilla

Food, service and my cup of coffee was outstanding. Always can count on deliciousness served with aloha at Lava Rock. Mahalo
