I was visiting Lille for a football match and having arrived from Paris in plenty of time i had a walk around Lille. During my walk I spotted L'Autre cafe which looked really nice. The cafe does a variety of light dishes such as crepes, soups and croques together with an extensive range of coffees and teas and other drinks and pastries. It was a cold day and I needed to warm up prior to the match. Well the warmth of the welcome certainly did that! Customer service is close to the best I have experienced during the three years I have lived in France. The Italian speaking gentleman who I presume is the owner came and had a chat about the football, where I lived in the UK which was a really nice. The other staff were charming too. All the food and drinks are reasonably priced and the portions are large. I had an excellent bowl of tomato soup followed by a croque - total price 7.90 Euros! They charge you that just for the soup (or croque)! in Paris.Notwithstanding the excellent food, it was the warmth of the welcome from all the staff that will live long in my memory. And to think I nearly ate at the MacDonald's by the football ground!
