"Took the entree + plat offer and the food was good. I had the lamb and the meat was sooo tender. Came right off the bone. The menu is uncomplicated and of great value. We were all quite satisfied with what we had albeit a little too ambitious. We could've have only had the starters as the portions are quite decent."

Driving through the town of Ferte-Saint-Aubin at lunchtime we detoured off at the sign for "Auberge" and found ourselves at this Michelin gem. We sat outside beneath an awning with local clerks and a group of road workers who obviously knew where to eat well for lunch. Enjoyed a delicious salad starter drizzled with white wine vinegar followed by two tasty veal escalopes in a creamy sauce with a side of potato gratin and vegetables. Hot bread (of course) and a carafe of wine included. Then a cheese course and finally a delicious apple dessert with ice cream. Every mouthful was so tasty and delicious. How do they do meals like this for 11.90 euros? It was the tastiest veal I have ever had - and two thick 5oz escalopes that were more like steak than veal. Great little place that is unpretentious but serves superb cuisine. You have to go there!

for international travelers I would recommend this place for a really good, moderately priced, traditional local cuisine. it is advisable to book their table before going. the place is guided by a few and they can physically not treat more than 30 people. few families with small children. we noticed some Dutch tourists. the 20 Euro menu was very demanding and delicious. this restaurant also offers amazing crepes. hoping this review will help them. I really hope they will enjoy this comfortable, traditional and affordable restaurant.

We very often drive from the Pyrenees to northern Europe and Brinon-sur-Sauldre is about half our way. It is a lovely, quiet town and La Solognote is a charming place to stay. This time we had a friend with children with us. The restaurant has a very good deal for kids, they get smaller portions of the menu at a very good price. The food is excellent, with many local products, and also very good wines on the menu. Also the rooms are very comfortable with well equipped bathrooms.

sometimes you just happen over the best places. during a long drive down the land we expected in the small town of ferte saint aubin, as it was silvester not to find much open or what it would be booked. but we had luck. the owner couple had made a special menu at a very reasonable price for nye, which was far better than anything we had gone in our week, including in roaming! friendly people, Swift service, excellent worth.
