Located in the canton of Thurgau, Oberstammheim is a perfect starting point for enjoyable walks to the nearby (small) lakes Nussbommersee and Huttwilersee.Very enjoyable - so was my lunch at Schwert. As in most Landgasthof in the countryside, it combines uncomplicated traditional food and true Swiss hospitality.Great staff - welcoming, smiling and efficient throughout the meal.A special mention on the dining room which was really cozy and nicely decorated.Food is traditional and tasty, no unnecessary fuss. I began with a Riesling soup - quite revigorating on a winter day. As main course I chose the veal Cordon Bleu - crispy without being greasy, delicious homemade spaetzli on the side.Strangely enough, the dessert menu offers a huge choice of ice cream...and nothing else but the daily dessert! I chose the latter - a generous and refreshing portion of walnut parfait. For Swiss standards prices are (relatively) moderate. Including all drinks the bill amounted to CHF80.
