We reserved a table for four at L'ami Provencal at 1pm on a Thursday. Three of us enjoyed the succulent lamb dish, which was cooked for several hours and was very tender. It was accompanied by an outstanding carrot flan. The head chef informed us that the carrots used for the flan were grown in the salted sands of the Camargue, giving them a rich and complex flavour. One of us had the hamburger which was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a generous salad topped with home-made potato crisps. The composition of each plate was extremely thoughtful and successfully executed. We also chose to try the house red, and were quite impressed. Aside from the excellent food, the highlight of our visit was discussing the menu with the chef who took the time to answer each our questions with detail. Our server was also very friendly. One of us found the choice of music (American Pop/Top 40) unfortunate. As we each had a main course and 1/2 litre of wine, the bill came to approximately 23 euros per person, which is fair for the quality. At this time of year the restaurant is only open for lunch but will open for dinner as well in mid-June. We certainly eat at L'ami Provencal again, and will next time try their desserts!
