We found our way to this lovely old hotel and restaurant when the hotel we were staying at in the nearby village wasn't serving dinner until 7:30pm. It was 5pm and after 30 some hours of travelling we were too tired and starved to wait that long. We asked a local who told us that Hotel du Lac on Lac Sagnat was a 5 minute drive from our hotel.When we arrived , we were the only people there. We sat at a table with a 360 view of the beautiful lake. The owner was an English woman and her husband. We ordered the 3 course menu that included your choice of various offerings. We both had the garden salad with shrimp which was delicious and fresh. I ordered an omelet with Frites and my husband ordered the owners special dish of Beef Bourgoigne and Frites. Both were rich, filling and delicious. Followed by your choice of desserts and Coffee. The food was well presented and very good. The hotel was quaint and less than our hotel in the village and I would have happily stayed here with a view of the lake, but we didn't want to be rude to the owners of the other hotel who were very nice.If we ever make the drive from Paris to Carcassonne again, we will definitely come back to this charming hotel and restaurant. It is quaint and authentic and the owners go out of there way to please you. We left them a €10 tip and they seemed so surprised and happy.
The restaurant is just outside Bessines sur Gartempe and is located by a campsite on Lac Sagnat. The menu is limited specialising in a selection of salads, a couple of steak dishes and some other meals but it is all cooked beautifully. The food is really tasty and the portions are generous. I had the duck which was so succulent.The service is excellent and the host exceptionally friendly. We first found this place while on holiday two years ago and we went back this summer while on holiday in the Limousin and it didn't disappoint. When finished you can take a nice walk around the lake.
A deux pas de l'autoroute, une excellente adresse à retenir, pour bien se ressourcer. Très beau cadre champêtre, au bord d'un joli lac. Un accueil exceptionnellement chaleureux et efficace. Menu de soir à 16€, copieux et bon. Quoi désirer de plus pour une pause au milieu du voyage ?
Menu du jour 12,50 . Salade composée plat du jour où steak ou jambon ou omelette et frites suivi de tarte ou glace. Très propre et bon accueil très souriant. Et anglais parle ! En prime joli ballade tranquille au bord du lac. Jeux pour enfants et plage.
