"The location of this dining room is for lovers. The food is excellently prepared and served. My only caution is not to order wines by the glass, which are very expensive. Splurge by buying a good bottle of wine and sharing it, while listening to the beautiful pianist play."

This is an extremely well run restaurant inside the Hotel du Palais. The room itself is wonderfully grand and the view over the sea is quite lovely. Service could not be faulted. We had the menu du saison which was very good value. Servings were generous and the food was excellent apart from my dessert which was on the menu as a panna cotta but did not seem to contain any. That is a minor quibble however. It was a great evening which we will always remember.

This used to be the Palace of Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III. Extremely well maintained, beautiful furniture - and what a location! Directly overlooking the sea and the beautiful beach of Biarritz with the Virgin's Rock nearby. Excellent food, attentive service. Prices are high but not extreme, considering the setting and quality.

When walking out after diner, we were not sure what had been best: the most delicious food, the impeccable, discreet and warm service, or the mindblowing view from the dining room. Not to mention the sommelier who is lovely, passionate about his job and will make sure you discover something new before you leave the restaurant.

The meal was sublime, and the elegance of dining in the Palais was simply wonderful. Not sure what else to say other than it is an experience worth having. Make sure to leave time to walk by the ocean and have tea or a brandy in one of the many comfortable lounges. It is an experience that deserves leisure.
