We were travelling through Le Mans and stopped in the La Vieille Porte for dinner and what a meal it was. We were lucky enough to get a table by booking around 6:30 but if you can pre book it's advisable. The food is exquisite - typically French bistro style food and is delicious. The staff are friendly and between a bit of Franglais we managed to order. I had the Jambon au Sauce Poivre which if it is on should not be missed. The waiter suggested a lovely rose to accompany the meal which was great and suited our taste perfectly.Take your camera as the street where it is located is fantastic and looks great in picturesIf you're in Le Mans give it a go - you won't be disappointed!

Whilst living in Le Mans, my daughter was recommended to this excellent restaurant by French friends. So during the week of the 24 Heures du Mans, we all went there for her 21st birthday meal and it was superb! Their special mash potato was to die for, steaks and duck breast cooked just right, bread and soft cheese were served also, leaving just enough room for a delicious French dessert! With attentive service too!

Had dinner on a Thursday night witnessed people being turned away. Foie gras starter as good as I've had anywhere followed by brochettes of beef for me and ham for her accompanied by a mushroom and potato mash. Pain Perdue to finish which seems to be popular this year, all in all a very good start to our holiday.

Delicious 3-course meal and great service. It exceeded expectations even with all the great reviews we had read. Would recommend the salad with duck, the chicken, and make sure to try the fries. Location on a quaint pedestrian-only street added to the charm.
