At 16.50€, this was the most expensive menu of the day that we sampled on this trip, but there was a step up in quality to match the price tag. We were seated in the upstairs restaurant where unfortunately there was a large group with a very stroppy and tantrum-prone toddler. The menu stated that there would be a further 3€ service charge per person, but this was not applied on the bill. Our food was tasty and well prepared and the toilets were very clean and well equipped.

We had the menu del dia and my wife had the misfortune to get three really poor dishes. Her main was scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Sounds simple but not in this chefs hands. Poor eggs and slimy salmon made it virtually inedible. For dessert my wife chose profiterol and ice cream and we thought ‘what can go wrong with that!’ Wrong! Try a frozen profiterole like an ice hockey puck. Avoid if you are in Segovia.

We stopped for a quick lunch, choosing the very good value menu del dia. We expected to be reasonably well fed as the menu was interesting, but every dish was better than anticipated. The service and ambience were fine and we came out, later than anticipated having had a dining experience rather than a quick lunch. It was our first full day of this trip and the bar was set high for the meals we were to enjoy.

I recently had lunch here twice (menu del dia). The food, service and value were all excellent, although the generous half-bottle of wine did rather slow me down for the afternoon's sightseeing! Highly recommended. I also ate dinner in the smarter restaurant of the same establishment (reviewed elsewhere) which was less good.
