La Mondina used to be my favorite local spot. Carmine would go out of his way to check on our table and make sure everything was perfect. He was always willing to make adjustments to my favorite orders to accommodate my dietary restrictions.Our reservation was at 9. Last night it took the server 35 minutes before she even took our order. At that point, we just decided to order dessert and a cocktail because it was approaching 10pm. According to the server, Randy the manager wouldn’t allow the adjustments to my order so unfortunately I wasn’t able to get what I typically enjoy there. The server told me “Randy is cracking down”.My friend and I went there last night to de-stress and enjoy ourselves. Not to then be disappointed that I couldn’t order my favorite cocktail without dairy. In this day and age there are so many different dietary restrictions for customers. Where you are dairy free, gluten free, peanut free etc. I’m surprised at a place like la Mondina where they actually offer vegan options, that they wouldn’t have been more accommodating, or at the very least apologetic that they no longer make the adjustment that they have previously made for me many times.
Impeccable service our waiter and the bus girl knew how to read the table, they were available when we had questions wanted to place an order, but also gave us space to discuss the menu and enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace. Water glasses were always secretly refilled!Food was excellent. We enjoyed the pear martinis, the special burrata with figs, the special filet and the tiramisu. Wonderful meal.We sat at a high top in the bar area since the place was fully booked on a Wednesday! Good for them! The chairs were surprisingly comfortable. We enjoyed the front section of the restaurant in comparison to the rear room. Candles on every table which is a nice touch. Everything was spotless not a crumb to be seen. They even wiped our table down between courses you you can’t help but make crumbs with their yummy table bread! The atmosphere feels a bit sparse, but they made an effort with the lighting to give it a cozier feel. Fun, upbeat music.All staff interactions hostesses, bartender, waiters, bus girl were incredibly pleasant, positive, polite and helpful. You don’t come across that regularly anymore!
First of all, the service and atmosphere were awesome...top notch indeed. The food is what matters most though so on that note...the food was excellent quality. However, I didn't find it to have all that much flavor, which surprised me because it was so nice and the place was super busy. I would absolutely go back and eat again, so I'm not trying to say it wasn't good, it's just not as good as several other Italian restaurants that I've been to (meaning everywhere...it wouldn't surprise me if this was the best Italian restaurant in its specific area).
The Charred Octopus over Gigante Beans was unbelievable. The octopus was delicious and the beans were quite possibly the best beans I've ever had in my life. Outstanding!The Cavatelli with Sausage and Broccoli Rabe Pesto was also 5 Star. An appetizer of Burrata, fresh Figs, and Prosciutto was also a winner. Just a great meal all the way around. I can't wait to go back!
