Last time I ate at this establishment was three years ago because of Covid. I usually order the same food because it is so good though the whole menu looks equally delicious. I started with a cold Mahou beer while I perused the menu. I ordered fish soup as always). Superb !!!!. I fully recommend it. !t is something you only get in the Basque country For my main dish I had entrecotte as always it was very tender and very tasty Wife had Antxoas de Guetaria anchovies) and monkfish both excellent. All was washed down with a bottle of an outstanding Luis Cañas which is the Espigas house wine. The service, as always, was efficient and simpatico . Total bill for two people €89.7. I think that is very reasonable for what you get

Stopped here for pintxos at lunchtime, packed and lively but interesting and different pintxos, good service and great to be somewhere which really felt local, not a word of English spoken, nice experience all around. On the basis of this booked for dinner... wish we hadn't. Not the greatest food, very slow, grumpy service, we ended up setting ourselves the challenge of making the waiter smile, just about succeeded. Not a cheap meal, ended up about 55 a head, and we ate far better elsewhere for this price. The downstairs room is also a bit soulless, the opposite of upstairs. Dedinitely go for the pintxos, maybe not the restaurant.

Tried to get a table around 8pm on a rainy January evening with my husband and teenage daughter. No room at the tables down the back. Would have settled for pintxos and wine at the bar but staff not interested in helping us spend our tourist dollars and we were ignored and made to feel very unwelcome. So, we went elsewhere… plenty of great places to eat in San Sebastián… but this isn’t one of them.

Fair local restaurant in the pedestrian San Marcial areaThe food is good, and the place welcomes local people as weeks tourists.
