I just want to be honest of what I got as a service and it was the worst experience I've had as last dinner for the 31st of December. I work as a tour leader for The Intrepid Group and went to give my group a nice new years eve but instead it was a shame to be there. The service was really bad! It took 43 minutes for our order to be taken.. the waiters always passed by and say one minute or just ignored us.. the meals took from 8:13pm to 9:51pm to be served and honestly was nothing special.. Took over 35 minutes to get the bill and just when we paid and actually asked the owner if everything was paid because we just wanted to leave that place..he said ok everything is paid and sorry for everything.. but after we got out they came and asked for 92.000 COP of some drinks that they forgot to include in the bill.. so sad that there are still places like this lack of hospitality in Cartagena which is a gem of turism.. should not be!! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE..

I and my husband had my birthday dinner here in this restaurant after spending the morning with the manger Alejandro on the Bazurto market. Alejandro was also in the restaurant and explained all the dishes and helped us make the final order selection. The food was delicious and I could really taste all the different ingredients. Crockery here are very unique as the cook combines additional efforts in the use of traditional Colombian ingredients in modern dishes. The combination of old and new in the kitchen in La Comunion is simply brilliant! I really recommend this restaurant if you want to be familiar with the ingredients of Colombian cuisine and its roots. The prices are very affordable, the service is friendly and helpful and the cocktail selection is very interesting!

This was our last dinner from a week of very good to excellent dinner in Cartagena, so the bar for impressing a local restaurant was quite high and it was comfortably cleared. Although the restaurant is in a comfortable and lively location (read loud) it is position on a colonial side street offering welcome peace. The menu is varied but not extensive. There are some well-known items on the menu, but also unique combinations of ingredients - all local or regional - made for interesting decisions. A limited but more than sufficient wine list. The owners are personally involved in preparation and service, which is an advantage for customers. Prices for food and wine are moderate, but the value is even higher. Will return to Cartagena on my next visit.

I have dined in La Comunion with my children (12 and 15), wife, parents and law. The restaurant is located on a quiet street near Plaza de San Diego. The dining area is small, quiet and modern. There are interesting original art on the walls. Menus are in English and Spanish and our server spoke perfectly English. The restaurant specialises in local ingredients. So we could enjoy fantastic seafood as well as fruits and vegetables that were both interesting and fresh. The fish stew was particularly good. They also brewed craft beers in Cartagena. I'd probably think about going back.
