The location is not bad, at the entry of the historical old town of Ciudad Rodrigo. As the weather was nice, it seemed a good idea to take my lunch at one of the tables placed outside the restaurant and watch the street life. However, it was not my lucky day. The food served as daily menu was at best average, the service friendly but very slow. It took me more than two hours for the menú and I was about to skip the dessert. The restaurant seems to be understaffed and the existing staff (I am not sure it was just one waitress or whether there was another waiter) was not very efficient. Actually some other people left their table before ordering because they got tired of waiting. Not very recommendable.
The cafe’s located at the end of Av.Yurramendi which is one of the main roads into the city. Nice setting between church and cathedral with outside seating plus indoor dining area. It was a balmy day when we visited the city and so decided to soak up some sun and sit outside in this pleasant spot. We were the only customers at the time and service was prompt, if a bit brusque we had drinks and a snack (hamburger/toasted sandwich) all good value at under 10euros but overall nothing to write home about. My wife made comment that the restrooms were ok. The “urinal” museum is in a building alongside the cathedral and worth a visit if it’s open 2euros won’t break the bank!
Hemos disfrutado de una gran comida, dos opciones de menú (12,90-16,50€ comimos setas y caldereta de langosta, cuero cabelludos llenos, canelones y macaroni, segundo lomo, entrecot, croquetas y bacalao. Raciones abundantes y muy bien cocinados. Traicionó el flan de huevo casero. Recomendado para todos los públicos. Gran atención. Un diez.
Just finished lunch. Best Pizza Marinara I have ever tasted, and for a modest price. We ate outdoors in very pleasant surroundings, just metres from the Cathedral.
