Our hotel recommended La Cave for a pre-dinner drink, which was a true locals drinking hole.It is located off Rue Royale (the main pedestrian mall in Annecy) down a small alley next to a pizza restaurant.) We were given directions from the hotel and it was relatively simple to find, but is well tucked away. It has an outdoor area which would be great in summer. The bar area itself is relatively small with stools at the bar and two tables for two people, but it has both an upstairs and downstairs seating area so don't he put off.As the title suggests, La Cave serves wine only (sorry beer lovers) from a wonderfully extensive menu. Fear not if you feel overwhelmed with the options - the bar staff are more than happy to assist. We had a wonderful French Chenin Blanc.Food is also served, but we didn't try as we were booked into a restaurant opposite. They serve the local marrow dish - basically cooked bones from which the marrow is eaten - and also what appeared to be a charcuterie plate with loads of ham - looked very appetising! We were served some small canapes to accompany our wine, which we were very tasty (no idea what they were .)The night we visited there was a DJ which at first seemed odd as didn't seem in keeping with the ambience, but fear not, he played a great selection of mellow songs - at a low volume.Do yourself a favour and visit La Cave if in Annecy.
