Living in the Isle of Man in the middle of the sea, there is nothing unusual in going somewhere by boat. However, one day on holiday in Central Europe I sailed from Austria to Germany! I joined a day trip from Lech to Bregenz on...the shore of the Bodensee, and then we went across to Lindau by boat. I enjoyed a walk along the shore, seeing some interesting birdlife on the way, and then picked a cafe at random for lunch. Kunst Cafe is on the corner of two streets with historical names, Maximilianstraße and Zeppelinstraße. I already knew the word “kunst” from the Norwegian, translating into English as “art”. Thus it does in German, too. Kunst Cafe lives up to its name, having lots of arty gifts for sale. Indeed, there was 50% off when I was there. I had a good tuna salad and a big bottle of German beer for all of €10, excellent value. Lindau island is very touristy, but I was told that prices were also reasonable at other places along Maximilianstraße.
