"My friend and I went for the first time last night. Although Chinese is not my first choice of cuisine, as my friend really likes this kind of food I agreed to go with her. I was very surprised as the menu was not what...I had expected I thought it would be curry, sweet and sour, chow mien type of food) it was far much better, with some tradition food (spring rolls and dumplings etc) however lots of other non common foods We both loved it and would definitely return soon"

This place is nothing short of stars if I could . The food is outstanding . I’m new to Leicester so it was daunting ordering as it is with any other place you visit but It was such a great descion . Me and...and my husband have confirmed this is it for us now in terms of ordering Chinese this is our go to . Where do I start... the spicy prawns ... wow if your a sea food lover TRY they are delicious , so much flavour and swimming in sauce not a dry dish at all ! The homemade noodles I think the dish is called “leghman” I’m not sure but WOW iv never tried them before this was a new thing and Wow I don’t think I could eat the tradiotional chow mein style noodles after this .They were amazing as were the spring rolls. Crispy and all the food you can taste the difference , the freshness , not no warming in the microwave like iv once had from other places Just for an example of how good it was ... I ordered on Wednesday and ordered again on Thursday . My husband colllected on Wednesday and I thought I would collect this time and the restaurant was fitting for the food produced it was so so clean and there is a window that you can see through to the kitchen this is always a gold star when it comes to eating out you have the option to have a look to see behind the scenes and it’s all spotless and you can tell they enjoy providi my good quality food. The manager also gave me a complimentary drink as I couldn’t help but tell him how great the food was. I do like to take my time to comment when I have received a good service because they defiantly deserve it . Great work guys . I’ll be back .

Having been let down for a booking by the sizzler place across the road we decided to go across to go to Karamay based on some online reviews we had seen. This was my first time in Leicester with family and a group of easily accommodated at short notice. On arrival the reception was warm and friendly and we were quickly seated by the waitress. The menu offered a selection of unique dishes, from which we tried several starters, the beef dumplings, prawn toast and chicken wings were amazing and we had to order a second helping as we couldn't get enough! The mains were equally tasty, we opted for the chilli chicken and beef stir fry with egg fried rice and hand pulled noodles, which were all very tasty and cooked well. Added bonus was all the kids loved the food too! As I live in Manchester my only disappointment is that this place isn't closer to home as I would love to go back again soon! Definitely an easy stars from me!!

My partner and I had a delicious meal at Karamay last night. The restaurant serves Urghur Chinese cuisine very different from the Chinese food we were familiar with. Shabbir gave us a warm welcome and made some recommendations. We had a noodle dish ..called Leghman "as soon as the order is received our chef will hand roll and then cook the noodles some skewers (chicken gizzards some delicious dumplings and a chicken/handmade bun dish called Chinese Murger, which was my favourite. The restaurant does not serve alcohol we had rose tea. We agreed with Shabbir that the dishes work best when served super fresh from the kitchen eg the noodles would be stodgy if transported in a sealed container. If you fancy trying some interesting and very tasty food, then I would recommend a visit to Karamay.

Restaurant was booked by a local family member, as we walked up, it looked a little dark from the outside, we weren’t too sure but how wrong we were to doubt this place. The food was amazing! The soups, dumplings, chilli chips and meat dishes...were delicious. I rated a because they didn’t have any ice or bottled water (tap water did just fine though). It was such a hot day that we were in need of cold drinks. Would definitely go again and recommend to friends and family! Great location as there is car park just around the corner on Nelson Street which was decently priced.
