Ilge - Table reservation

We staid in Arnegg and had looked forward to dine here daily, looking at the reviews and had high expectations. The fish and meat we got was not prepared badly, but it was not special in any way. The fried new potatoes were served half raw; when questioned the waiter stated that this is the Swiss way and when I mentioned that the vegetables were overcooked he mentioned this was also the local approach. Nonsense of course but the worst is that he did not even bother to correct. We dined at other local restaurants which were not really better (not counting the under/overcooking) except one 4 km from Arnegg in Gossau: Das Grillhaus. A simple place with Portuguese owners, but they can sure cook. At half the price we had a meal that I would not rate to be Bib Gourmand worthy but well prepared. The service by itself was good but I rated it low because of the waiters attitude. The location and ambiance is good.

We were all impressed, as there was nothing to complain about and excellent value for money. Staff attentive, good portions (6 courses), appealing to the eye, tasty and all-round great quality. My mum said it was the best meal she has had and even better than her wedding! Will definitely take more visitors.

In terms of food, this is one of the best restaurants we visited whilst traveling in Europe this year. The food is sublime and the service is very friendly. The location is rural only 2 min off the A1 motorway between Austria and Lausanne. It has an outdoor garden patio which makes for a lovely lunch spot.

This restaurant has excellent local country food. It is a significant cut above the bratwurst and rosti in style. The service is friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our meal very much.
