We are visiting Gijon from the United States. We've been excited to come to Padrino since we started researching Gijon a few months ago. Unfortunately, we were never allowed to eat there. Our first night in town, we arrived 40 minutes before closing and the hostess said it was too late and to come back earlier another night. She didn't say a reservation was necessary. Our last night in town we arrived 2 hours before closing. The restaurant was 20% full and they said they would only accept parties with reservations. We asked if we could at least order a pizza to go since we traveled from the US and were so excited to try their pizza. The hostess said it was too late for a to go order. We explained that it was our last opportunity and her response was that we'd have to come back to Gijon if we wanted to eat there. My husband and his family are Asturian and speak Spanish fluently, so there was not an issue of a language barrier. I imagine their pizzas are wonderful and I still wish I had been able to try one but it's unfortunate that their customer service is so terrible.
ELPADRINO provides delicious food, wonderful atmosphere and great service. The highlight for many though is their pizzas. I believe itis, without a doubt, the BEST Italian restaurant in Gijòn. The dessert are of the highest quality and the staff welcome you as part of their family, extremely politely and warm. Always a winner option for any special day but book in advance!
Absutely great place!!! I do not remember any best pizza ever: original ones with great taste. Salad, desserts... Really reallt good ones. Waiters so nice as well! Impresionante! Las pizzas inigualables. Originales y fantásticas de sabor! Ensaladas , postres... Todo muy muy bueno. Los camareros simpatiquisimos y muy atentos.
We came to Padrino with 3 starving, tired young children. They served us extremely quickly. They were accommodating with the boys pizza and ours were exquisite. My husband had the octopus pizza and I had the pear and Gorgonzola.... to die for. Highly recommended.
