Il Laghetto - Table reservation

The restaurant was not impressive. I must admit that I have rarely had a memorable meal at any Italian restaurant, except for popular chain places like Cuisine Italia, Jamie's Italian, and Strada. This place is quite fancy, but I was told that I could only stay for 1 hour as a solo diner on a Saturday night. It was adequate, but a bit rude, especially considering I was expecting amazing food. Unfortunately, the meal was just okay. It was pricey too. I ordered the king prawns in wine sauce as a starter and the Dover sole as a main dish. The prawns were decent, but I've had better in Staines. The sole was a generous portion, but the vegetables and potato side dish were bland so I didn't finish them. I was still hungry after the meal and considered walking 10 minutes to a great Indian restaurant instead.

Antonio's restaurant is a favorite spot for family dinners and celebrations. The staff always takes good care of diners, serving up fresh, classic Italian dishes along with great wine. The special board is updated weekly with seasonal offerings that are generous in portion size. Save room for dessert if you can, and be sure to ask for the off-menu Limoncello ice cream - a local favorite that sells out quickly. While it's not made in-house, it's always a must-try. It's recommended to call ahead, especially on busy weekends.
