"Crazy hours - open till 2:00 am some nights. Even more crazy beverage selection. The food is surprisingly good from such a tiny place. Try the salmon on rice - enough for two. One of the few Japanese places in Edmonton actually staffed by someone from Japan! Very pleasant Also one of the few who serve Sake in a masu (bamboo box)Walk - don't drive - and enjoy yourself."

As a fan of decent food and decent service, my wife and I were deeply dissappointed with our “meal”.We had the “signature” stew, which the meat tasted processed, with a un-identifiable after taste, the recommended specialty pork sausage pork hot dog (which was essentially a costco hotdog with Japanese garnish,) and the croquetts which were again obvously came from flash frozen Costco’ize bag (the accompanied bean curry was excellent.) The tempura shrimp roll (i.e dynamite roll) was passable, but easily the lower end of quality compared to similar restaurants. That, two Sake’s and a beer ran $75 for a very sub par meal.My wife and I finished our date at another tapa’s restaurant (104 st and 101ave) which made me realize how bad our meal actually was!As I have already wasted enough of our time on Ikki, I won’t comment on the service with the exception of it matched the food!Highly recommend passing this place and finding another!

First time dining here August 13 was outstanding! I have shellfish allergies and was told that if I call ahead of time (2-3 days) they can make sure there are items on the menu that are okay to have. I did this and was I ever impressed! I personally had the Tamago (personal fav.,) the Salmon Don (special this day,) Tuna Sashimi, and the Yakitori. I felt like I was back at Univeristy in Nagoya enjoying authentic Japanese food. Well worth it!The service was also fantastic, the restaurant isn't very large which meant more personalized service. Overall this is going to be a go to when I go to Edmonton. I will do my best to steer off course if it means I can enjoy some more of my all time favorite dishes!

I've been to Ikki many times, and each time the waiters and waitresses greet me with a smile and remember me. The food specials (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays) are amazing! Tuna sashimi's on Tuesday, Takoyaki on Wednesday, and Yakitori Thursdays. The dishes were portioned as tapas, but I especially enjoy the Ochazuke (or rice in broth.) Works as comfort food and fills the stomach. Overall, I love this place and is my favourite place for small eats and a drink

Ikki is probably one of my favorite hangouts in Edmonton. The service is always incredible and they treat you like family. The food is always great as well. Although the menu is small, I never get tired or their dishes and I love it when they have random specials. The place does get busy sometimes but that has made it more enjoyable for me as it gives me an opportunity to talk to others. Good fun place to eat, drink, and mingle.
