"We had a great time for my birthday! Hannah was great, and suggested some good items for us too. The Shanghai Style smoked fish was excellent and the slow braised pork belly and organic abalone!"

Amazing!! William was our server for a random Friday lunch drop in and we couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of service or the quality/quantity of food.We opted for the lunch special for 2 which we were told would be more than enough to bring home. I initially dismissed this as marketing but I'm glad I was disappointed in that regard the portions were generous and the value for the amount of food at Michelin star quality IMO was highly impressive. Yeah yeah there's the SG chicken cart for $0.0001 that we all know about, but I think it's fallacious to think that just because something isn't close to the best possible value doesn't mean that something does not have good value. To each their own.Anyway, onto the food. We started with the duck miso soup which was nice. It was very duck y and pleasant. I can imagine this could be salty for some folks who are more salt sensitive, but for me it was just right. 7/10.Afterward came the stir fried prawns. This was a steep ramp up in flavor and quantity compared to the previous dish and honestly knocked it out of the park. Texture, flavor, presentation were all amazing here; it was fried enough to be able to eat the skin off of the prawns. Their signature soy sauce sauce was perfectly prepared and complemented the prawns very well; amazing blend of garlic, sweet, savory, soy, and smokiness. Very super minor nitpick here I think some prawns were a little tougher, but this was mostly toward the end of the dish, so probably just the cooling off effect of the tissue. Plenty of prawns to go around. 10/10.Next came the steamed yellow croaker. First, the good: the texture of the fish and the toasted szechuan peppercorns were awesome. I don't know how but they managed to source/prepare the peppercorns in a way to capture the numbing sensation szechuan flavor but also preserve bring out the beautiful nuttiness and aromas of the toasted peppercorns outside of just the szechuan ness. Unfortunately, this dish was all over the place in terms of saltiness some parts were tolerable/just right, but there were other parts of the dish that were extremely salty. I actually left some pieces on the place because IMO they were inedible due to the saltiness, and this is coming from someone with I think a relatively high salt tolerance. On the plus side, fish was huge and definitely filling. I'd give this a 5/10.Next was the duck. OMG. Great all around! The crispy duck skin and sugar was so good. SO good!! And the duck crepes we were able to make were the bomb dot com as well. We could not finish the whole meal and pleasantly had plenty to take home. 9/10; the overall duck was like an 7.5 (boost to 8 for the massive amount and the crunchy skins were 10/10.Lastly was the savory sweet mooncakes. I thought these were more sweet than anything else but I could still taste the pork notes. IMO, a little too sweet. I would've enjoyed a ~5% boost to the saltiness/savoriness. Hard to finish after being stuffed from the whole duck (it's a good thing! . 7/10 here.On the service ambiance side this place is absolutely gorgeous and a perfect place to take someone out for a delightful evening or afternoon out. William was incredible the whole way through and made us feel incredibly welcomed and entertained for the entire course. We really appreciated his liveliness and willingness to talk about us about the venue, its history, and even about the dishes. Could not have asked for a better host!Final thoughts this place was awesome and we WILL be back the next time we're in Vancouver. I don't think there's a better value/price point on the west coast for a lunchtime full course 1* Michelin meal. Highly recommend!!Parking: Downstairs paid parking, signage to help navigate

This is my first Michelin restaurant in Vancouver. This is the only Chinese restaurant with a Michelin star. So, quite some expectations ahead. The food quality is wonderful. Up to other Michelin restaurants I have been to in other areas. The smoked dried fish was really good. Smoked but not too dried. Still soft and saucy inside. The smoked deer meat was not bad. The bamboo cake was a surprise. Layers of different texture and temperature as well. The signature Beijing BBQ duck was ok. Maybe a bit of over expectations by myself. It was ok, not bad, but no surprise.Services were wonderful, up to the standard of a Michelin restaurant. Will return if there is an opportunity.

First time trying and we had a really great lunch here! The service was super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious too! We had the lunch special for two that included a variety of courses. Definitely worth trying if you are looking for a special dining experience. Thank you to William for taking care of us!Parking: There is an underground parking garage (entrance around the restaurant) that has free spots reserved for iDen and Quan Ju customers
