We had occasion to spend two weeks at the Payerbacherhof during the summer of 2015. Family run, the hotel and restaurant have a comfortable vibe that makes you feel at home very quickly. My problem was that there was very little (nothing) to do in this small town and after two weeks we were stir crazy. The hotel restaurant managed to keep things fresh with an assortment of daily specials and menu updates. Not always with the degree of success that one would hope for, but they get high marks for keeping the quality high and the offerings diverse. Service was always pleasant and prices fair.

Visited the restaurant twice on our brief stay in Austria. One word. Fantastic!! Everything that a restaurant should be. Both the food and service are immaculate. The owner is fantastic, he and his staff really make their guests feel welcome. We were even invited to a concert in the cellar, a really magical evening. Lessons to be learnt from some of our UK hospitality industry. Will definitely return. Nige and Rin ( had the conversation about Huddersfield)
