Actually a mountain refuge, the place is run by an incredibly passionate and friendly couple, an ancient dog and two donkeys : We came to Hospice de France when on our trek through the Pyrenees; it is also accesible by car or bus from the valley. It's a perfect place for a tourist to regain strenght after a day of wandering, to eat a decent homemade meal, to relax in the sun with a glass of wine and to have a good night's sleep. The prices are very reasonable for France and the atmosphere leaves nothing more to be desired. Add a stunning view of the Venazque valley just opposite the windows and a lush green everywhere and that is the place you want to be :

So showing a visitor around the area we headed to the Hospice de France after we had walked high up around the ski resort of Superbagneres de Luchon. This family operation was just what you need after a long or short hike in the Pyrenees, the service was really friendly nice husband wife daughter team, so feel the nice family atmosphere, we ordered the crepe with lemon juice and sugar, nice portion of side cream, it was delicious. Beers very cold and nice. Outside decor could be a bit more updated. But what a great place to come back to try on an evening or lunch. We will be back....! the donkeys could be trained a bit better

This restaurant is in a unique position set high up in the Pyrénées. The food is good, reasonably priced and the restaurant has Fantastic views up to the Spanish border. Ou can have a snack or a full lunch but it would be wise to book in season, it's a bit of a drive and a long way to the next restaurant!

We just had some coffee drinks and wine, and enjoyed the view. Friendly service, very reasonably priced (less than 2 euros for un cafe! , and a lovely spot to sit. A little treasure up at the end of the road.
