Hoi An - Table reservation

We arrived pretty early as we wanted to yet visit the Circus Knie after dinner. The restaurant was naturally pretty empty due to the time as it was only about 18:30, with some guest on the elevated terrace. We sat down at the border of the terrace which offers an excellent view over the harbour of Ouchy, the lake and the mountains. It has been a long time that I had visited this Vietnamese restaurant with my daughter and I appreciated it at the time very much, for which reason we had decided, as it was also not far from where we had to go, to try it out again. The service was friendly and quick. Drinks and food also arrived very quickly. We started with the Plateau Hoi An – a platter with 5x2 different starters two different rolls (vegetable and pork), grilled shrimps, rice cake and raviolis, the latter two being a little tasteless. As a main course my wife had a shrimp soup and I ordered a Bun Bo Hue, a spicy soup with rice noodles and beef as well as proc meat. My wife tasted my soup and admitted that it tasted better than the one she had ordered. All in all it was a nice and quick dinner and we will return to try out the other options like the BBQ or the buffet (eat as much as you can).

This restaurant has a beautiful view on the lake, but it cannot make up for the disorganized and unfriendly service we received. We made a reservation. We were coldly greeted on arrival. We had to flag down a waitress to take our order after 15 minutes. Our drinks arrives about 10 minutes after that. Our food did not arrive until 45 minutes later, after we inquired with the owner. Many others that had arrived long after us received and completed their meals before our food had arrived. Others were waiting similar to us. There appeared to be much confusion among the staff on who was serving which tables. When our food arrived, my wife's dish was fresh and good. The duck that I had ordered was dry and served on cold noodles, as if the duck had been reheated. There was no offer of compensation from the owner for this very bad experience We were very disappointed and felt like we had been ripped off for a rather high cost dinner.

We were lucky to visit during good weather, so were able to eat on the restaurant's large terrasse, with a view of the marina and lake. The buffet is excellent. We were initially uncertain as often it's nicer to choose exactly what you want from the menu, but having looked at what was on offer at the buffet we felt confident in going for it. The best element was being able to choose fresh seafood (clams, razor clams, crayfish) to be grilled. Staff were polite and fast, especially considering it was a very busy lunch service.

We've been here with friends, after spending all day at Vidy beach, and we've really loved it. Staff was nice and helpful. The place is really beautiful as well, we felt like we were in Vietnam. And you have plenty of choice for dishes and also vegetarian options. Prices are corrects, despite of the place.

We liked it a lot! We had a nice lunch here, on our stroll through Lausanne on a week day. Portions were big (still trying to finish it as I'm writing this at home), food was better than we expected. Staff was kind even though we didn't speak any French.
