First of all, let me say that the food was fine. Nothing spectacular but absolutely acceptable. I ordered an entree of the zucchini flowers with goat cheese and was surprised by the presentation - big, long stalks that were difficult to address with fork and knife. Strange combo of flavors but certainly tasted OK. We weren't too hungry so planned to split a main and fill in with sides and dessert but the waitress assured us that the lamb (which was the highest priced item on the menu) was far too small to share. So we ordered two of them. When the plates arrived we were dismayed - it was a huge portion, easily shared by two. We ate in silence and left quickly, feeling a bit manipulated.I know it's not popular to split a main but we would have happily paid a plate charge. And I know portion sizes are a matter of opinion but the experience left us with no desire to return. On the plus side, the decor, as reviewed by others, is darkly ornate. The soaring ceiling with the dome is indeed striking. And on the advice of other TripAdvisor reviewers, we ordered the chips ...which were the best thing we ate all night. Delicately crisp on the outside with rosemary salt and satin potato inside. Don't know how they did it but the execution was flawless. The restaurant was almost empty on a Thursday night but the bar downstairs was hopping. Glad we were a floor away from the noise. But there was a table of 10-12 women seated in the center of the restaurant who were almost as loud as the bar. Sound control isn't one of The Dome's strong points. Was I full when we paid the bill? Yes. Was I satisfied? No.

I was searching for a romantic restaurant in the Sydney CBD, and had never come across this restaurant before. Luckily I found a few good reviews on Dimmi and booked in for that night. We went on a Friday so there was a great buzz downstairs in the Arthouse bar - where we had a couple of drinks and then made our way upstairs. It was gorgeous. Nothing like the after 5 Friday crowd downstairs. There was a jazz band playing - live music is always a welcome touch at dinner. Our waiter for the evening was amazing and very attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the chicken, leek and spinach ragu with handmade pappardelle. My husband had the steak which he said was cooked to perfection. The highlight was those chips! OMG make sure you order them as a side.Very very reasonable too! What a wonderful evening. Will definitely come back for date night.

the room is lovely but the service is the worst I have experienced in a long time. Drink orders take far too long, meals are served and the sides arrive 15 to 20 mins after. I ordered a cocktail and after waiting 20 mins, the staff offered me a premixed cocktail out of a bottle.Perhaps the most woeful dining experience I've had in Sydney in memory. I strongly recommend against this place. Choose burger king or KFC over this place, at least there you will get what you expect and what you pay for.

Today at noon, today (Friday) with 14 colleagues. Prompt and courteous service from all employees. Served polenta chips, french fries and meat and a vegetarian Merkzi plate. Grief Grief My head was the grilled lamb salad that was slightly delicious. Serving was on the small side, and I would have been hungry if I did not have the appetizers. Grief Grief No complaints from my colleagues. Beautiful old decor with modern surfaces. Grief Grief Nice, but I would not go back. Check it yourself.
