Beer for brewing had tradition in earlier times, the number of breweries was great. In the Erzgebirge. In the small town of Zwönitz near Aue, the stone cellar brewery was opened in 1875, where beer was brewed until 1922. Why then the operation was stopped and not resumed, I know. In the 1990s, however, the noble people remembered the old tradition. The empty former Schützenhaus, which was operated as a holiday home in the GDR until the turn, was acquired, renovated and reopened after extensive construction work as the first groundbreaking brewhouse. We were back in one of our favorite garden specialty markets, located here in Zwönitz. At noon came the little hunger that was closer to the inn. Not far from the city center is easily accessible the large building is located, a parking lot is located behind the house. There we also drive to the in-house beverage market where almost all Zwönitzer beers and at least 100 more, partly from all over the world, can be bought. But first to the restaurant. A large door enters the guest room, which looks dark at first glance. This is on the small windows, of which only two lights enter the street. The lighting over the tables is artistically worked, but only equipped with small lamps. The rustic equipment with much thick wood rests in this atmosphere. What initially did not seem very welcoming turned out to take the place and see it as a rustic ambience that fits perfectly with a brewery restaurant. You didn't even have to drink it nicely. We did not discover the other premises this day, only in the next room could the typical copper-colored equipment be brewed. Speaking of space and drinking. Of the 8 tables in the front guest room were 3 occupied, so enough free choice for 2 seats. Then the glittering waitress, the two menus that come here as an appealing “brewery newspaper”, pushed us up and pointed out to have some patience, as a society is to be served in one of the back rooms. Since we enjoyed a free day and were not on the run, we had full understanding, sat down and read into the extensive map. Many home cooking or petty-bourgeois food would probably describe the offer. Browse, read again and find that a decision is not so easy. First drinks. My wife was the point of white beer, which is naturally brewed here in the house. I couldn't decide between Pilsener, Black Beer, Bock or the completely unknown Indian Pale Ale. This does not seem to be the only way to go, because for the undecided or likely is on the map “The Taste”. I would better translate a somewhat bulky name here in the Erzgebirge than Zen Probiers. This is 4 x 0.1 liter of different Zwönitzer beers. It should be! In the meantime the company was well looked around, the flashy waitress appeared again and asked us kindly about our wishes. First the drinks, because we haven't been up with the food yet. In fact, acting alone, the operation went behind the counter and took the total of 5 beers. Shortly afterwards, she brought a white beer in the typical 0.5 liter glass and four similar miniature glasses placed in a support plate provided with correspondingly large holes. Good idea. Before me there was the explanation of what beer I could taste. There was a pilgrim, a wheat beer of the month I learned, a red blossom and a black beer. Well, Prost, but before that I command the dishes. I felt the feeling of roasted liver cheese with roasted eggs and roasted potatoes, my wife had decided for the cheese. A pumpkin soup. My choice is the daily dish of Tuesday, and there is a little beer, said the waitress. Good night, who should go home? Sure, no problem. We tried both 5 beers, all of them delicious, especially the wheat socks. Without a car in the parking lot, I would definitely have tested the remaining varieties, but this must now be postponed for a later visit. After a short time the soup came, hot and fragrant, there were many bitters in it. Pumpkin does not have the great taste of his own, there were also potatoes and carrots. It tasted great. Later, the appetite liver cheese with crispy roast potatoes, the egg was roasted to the point when you can say that. Not glibbery anymore, but also without burnt edges. Also the cheese parrots looked delicious and tasted my wife excellent. The little cyclist was not forgotten and also drunk with pleasure. To cut off the alcohol we stayed a while, drank two espresso and let the bill come. This fell quite modest at 30 euros, one is in the country and in the east: A subsequent visit to the beverage market behind the inn was practically obligatory, some interesting beers were discovered, bought and taken home.

We were lucky to stay in the guest house of the Zwönitzer Bräuhaus during a bridalage. The newly designed rooms are each named after a Hausbrau-Biersorte and we were allowed to make it very comfortable in the Festomd room. The complex is a successful blend of traditional earthy style and modern cosmopolitan flair. Valuable materials, discretely built technical elements and lovingly designed details create a clear, warm feel-good atmosphere. The nice and friendly service along with the good floor and the creative kitchen creates a pleasant, carefree stay. So we have not only relaxed the very sweet beer and will surely look past a new one. Until then we wish the Naumann family and the entire team a great success and a good hand with its guests.

... very nice, modern hotel, the rooms were state-of-the-art and tuned to beer, all employees, whether boss or employee very friendly, helpful and always responsive. Also the food as well as the menu very good, varied, also variable. In the beer garden it was really great, the service was always there, even if we were sitting a little longer. Even the night watchman came by and went on a chat. The only mango was with us and 4 other couples that really hard beds. Good sleep wasn't at all. Only 1 couple had a room with a soft bed where they were really sunk. But otherwise everything is great.

We were there a few days ago. Unfortunately, I had to hear from some of my guests that they were not satisfied. Request to fade hard and dry, glowing wine slag, Steak On Four partially encrusted. The fresh salad was tastefully good, but consisted of 90 percent red cabbage. Spinach dumplings with tomato sauce are necessary. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's a matter of taste.
