My aunt booked a special celebration brunch for 14 of us in May when we were staying in the area for a celebration weekend. We had actually tried to book rooms too but apparently you can't check in after 7pm so we found somewhere else.Back to the brunch - the management apparently called my aunt three times the week before to confirm the booking and to take a deposit. However you wouldn't have guessed that from the reception we got! The chateau restaurant has a lovely terrace but despite a beautiful sunny day, a table had been laid in a gloomy meeting room. With no grace they reluctantly agreed to re-lay outside. Then they announced that we must pay for the brunch before we sat down! Have you ever had to pay for a meal before you ate it?! Next the buffet 'brunch'. Hardly any food, what was there was inedible and obviously been on the buffet table since early morning. No hot food. Nothing for veggies. An omelette affair, a few lettuce leaves and some cold meats. Not enough bread, no cheese board - just awful and embarrassing for everyone. It's such a lost opportunity. It's a beautiful place and the local people would love to have a decent place to have a meal. Avoid - the hotel/bar in St Antonin is much better.

Since we discovered the Ferme Auberge we became fans because of its great value and nice seating all seasons (when open). The menu is outstanding; 36€ for starter, main course and desert including wine of the chateau. Where else can you get this? In summer they have a beautiful terrace and if the wheather is not fine you can enjoy the food inside in a very tasteful , modern interior. Very different from most locations in the region. We love it. There is a lot positive to say about the place however there is also something very strange. They don't like loyal customers. If you are unlucky and alone for dinner they chase you out by offering all very fast (feels like fastfood). Worse is that we came since end June 3 times and only could enjoy the same menu. No big deal you would say if you would have the choice between many different dishes however when limited to two not inviting returning. A pity; always learned it is easier to keep a customer than to make a new one....To end; the staff is always very friendly. Not always the case here in the region. With more variety a place we would visit more

We had Saturday evening dinner with our friends who have a summerhouse here. Part of Chateau Mentone (Cave) the menu features some beautiful local wines. We opted for the fixed menu with came with a glass of wine for each of the courses: white, red and rose. Nice features is that since we were with four dinners the waiter opened a fresh bottle of wine for each course. The starters were easy (I opted for the Duck Terrine). Since a large group was dinning we had the option to go for the grilled lamb chops with sautéed veg and potatoes which were nice. Portions are fine and will not set you to overeat ;) Starter and main were accompanied with fresh bread rolls. The desert was great (can't even remember the name). We topped it up with coffee. At a cost of 36 Euro a head we could not complain (even after the dropping pound following Brexit).

New in the Lorgues area since this summer. Went with friends for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised; from interior design to food & beverage.. In our opinion the best value for money in the area. A 3- course menu including wine of the Chateau for only 36€. The menu offers choice between different plates . Most ingredients are sourced from local farmers. Closed between end October and Easter.... Hope they can keep the staff to maintain the quality and service when opening again in 2016. If they do we become regular visitors..
