As we were booked into a B&B nearby, we asked for a recommendation for a place for dinner. El Cruce sounded good and really WAS the business. It is a Cider House (they take their cider very seriously in this part of Spain) and was well patronised by the locals for both food and drink always a good sign! My wife went for white wine, which was very good, and I had the cider also good but not quite up to my local cider standards. We ordered the Tapas which looked yummy and were advised not to order 6 but only 3 for 2 persons. This was very good advice as the portions were the biggest tapas we had ever seen. The scorpion fish pie with salad was very good and the fried whole baby squid quite superb. As to the garlic king prawns we only wish we could get ones like these in the UK huge and succulent. Altogether this was a dining experience that will live for a long time in our memories.

I have to say that my rate is given more for the type of place than for the actual products. I was absolutely impressed by the fact that drinking cider was such a social thing is the asturias, where kids play in their own area and you can enjoy the drink and the food with family and friends. The cider itself was a nice discover for me, but i can't really say if there are different quality of ciders, and the tortilla we took seemed ok to me, but nothing special. Last, i did not pay so i can not say anything about prices!

If you ever visit Asturias, Gijón especially, this a must, the food is beyond, the waiters are very friendly and pro, and the chef Jonny is a perfectionist, the plates always looks amazing and once you start digging you won’t stop, if you are looking for quality this is your place, because the chef always getting the best products of the region, and the menu is variable, it change every season, this is my fourth time here, and never ever been disappointed, you have to book a table, because it’s always full.

We were recommended this restaurant by the owner of our hotel. It was an easy walk through pretty country lanes. The restaurant was hugely busy on the Sunday we visited and was very popular with families. Service was friendly (and in English, which had been a rarity to that point) and helpful. We had a very good meal, well cooked and with an excellent bottle of local red wine. A very good find.
