I am updating my recent review of Earl's Kitchen+Bar. My family and I went there for restaurant week and didn't have the best of meals. I wrote my review and gave it two stars and was going to just move on and not really talk about it again. The internet is powerful but word of mouth is still a thing and I was ready to let everyone know about my negative experience. Then Josh the GM of Earl's reached out on here and apologized for the food not meeting the standards that he and his staff are used to and asked to make it up to me and my family. Instead of blowing him off and keeping that negative experience, we took him up on his offer. We came back LAST NIGHT and I actually got to meet Josh and the Executive Chef Villy. They were so nice and truly did go above and beyond to give us a new experience that lived up to their own expectations. We got to sample a variety of items including their truffle fries which were not overpowering at all. Super thin and crispy with just a hint of truffle salt. My kids don't even know what truffles taste like but they loved it. We sampled the sushi-style tacos they have on their menu. One was a battered shrimp, ahi tuna and a crispy tofu wrapped in rice paper and shiso leaves. Absolutely delicious! Good crunch and a little bit of a spicy, creamy sauce added to it. We had the Ribs and Filet for dinner that were accompanied by warm potato salad and coleslaw, and green beans and mashed potatoes with some crispy potato straws on top. Last week the green beans were mushy, this week they were perfect. Med-rare on the steak which was seasoned nicely and a peppercorn sauce on top made from demi-glace(reduced veal/beef stock) absolutely delicious. My kids loved the ribs! I think they were a bit too tender as I like a little bite to a rib but they were seasoned beautifully and not over-sauced. The mashed potato were soft and creamy this week and the potato salad had a good crunch to it. For dessert they gave us a sampling of vanilla gelato, sticky toffee pudding, which is there signature dessert and the key lime pie. My family and I are not huge Key Lime Pie fans but if that's your jam then this dessert is for you. The gelato was good but that sticky toffee pudding was divine! Very rich and gooey! I also sampled the peanut butter and jelly cocktail. It sounds a little weird at first but when you mix it all together it just works. It is jelly and red wine reduction mixture that really brings in some good depth of flavor and some lemon juice brightens it up! It is not often you see a restaurant go above and beyond to win back your business and trust but Josh, Chef Villy and the staff did just that. Not only will I be back, but I will tell all of my foodie friends and family about Earl's and the wonderful food and service.
