that was the worst food in France. we are not the travelers who had a bad experience. this restaurant was our shade when we first found it. they had professionally prepared foods that could rival any cooking and it was really a...memory that we held for many years. the last paintings we visited were less than quality, but last week we had enough. eating was almost useless. I ordered lamb and the court was so full of unbearable things that I sent it back as it came. there were bones to speak the size of orange without meat. whole bay leaves, garlic with still the paper on it, and it was all muddy gray with wine over many hours. I am a gourmet cook and I can tell them that the fish with curry was disgusting. the price for this slop was inevitable and it seemed that they stopped having a restaurant of any quality, but still pretending to be served by the guests in the evening. our family will never go back there and the memories of such good eating have been deleted by an overly bubbly server that tries to cover the disgusting food they served for Beaucoup bucks. certainly a embarrassment for the guests we had invited with us who said "that eating would never happen in a restaurant in Switzerland where they were from. good driver d’ici et d’ailleurs.

While visiting the Languedoc-Rousillon region of southern France, we happened upon this wonderful restaurant. The museum of art we planned to visit was not open so we ambled along winding roads in the foothills of the Pyrenees and followed signs to Castelnou, an 11th century...town that is designated one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France We stepped into the first restaurant we passed and were immediately charmed by the 2-story interior space and the friendliness of the proprietors. We were seated upstairs in a small cozy dining room near the hearth. Our meals were simple but excellent a hearty salad for my husband and an omelet and salad for me. The meal was accompanied by crusty French bread and a bottle of crisp and delicious local white wine recommended by the hostess. This was one of those unplanned experiences that we will always have fond memories of and we look forward to a return trip.

Have been visiting France en vaccances for past five years and this is my worst experience to date. We were a group of four who arrived at 1pm without reservation. The one waitress told us in no uncertain terms that she was already rushed off...her feet with three other tables to attend to- 12 other covers- and that we would need to wait at least half an hour for us to place our order. After being ignored for some time no bread or aperitif offered- we were then informed that the only thing that we could be offered was a salad. The chef was under pressure! When we politely asked how long it may be before the said salad may be ready, the chef told us to go to.MacDonalds in Thuir 10 minutes away. Enough said, we left! What a disappointment!

Castelnou, a tiny medieval village in the mountains, our home' for one night. This restaurant was one of two recommended by a local B&B owner. We certainly picked the right one. Honest local cuisine with seasonal ingredients. I had the most tender meat I've ever...tasted in a subtle tasty sauce. I'd gladly drive the whole 1200 km again to taste another medaillons de veau aux girolles'. It was divine. The suggested local red wine was perfect with the dishes we ordered.
