We ate cheese fondue, at the beginning it was OK, half way, the cheese started to act like caoutchouc somewhat! We asked for suggestions, they replied 'we can try to revive it '. We asked to get another dish instead, one plate, and that we would pay for the difference in price. They replied that it was not an option. We asked for the provenance of the beef: south America, Swiss cows are not possible..... After having waited a long time for the second waiter to come back in order to get our choice, I went inside in order to speak to the owner, at first he didn 't feel like coming to us. A madam stood up, apparently belonging to the restaurant, she said that she is not serving. Then the owner gave his word that a new portion shall be cooked, but the result was worse than the first one. The madam came out, since we were on the terrace, proved to us that the second portion was freshly remade, in showing us the first pot, her ton was not friendly. As an explanation, she said that normally it works always fine with cheese fondue, but the fact that the outside air temperature around 8 celsius was, would be the reason for the chewing gum fondue. We let it the way it was, we asked to pay only one portion, but she declined, she offered us tea and digestive. We informed the waiter that we were going to post a comment on trip advisor and that we would also inform Wallis Swiss tourism office.
We were very nicely served, the staff was very nice to us. I was disappointed with the quality/price value, it was expensive but not worth it. Croûte au fromage was ok, nothing outstanding but ok and quite rich in ingredients. Desserts however were not very nice to look at the chocolate fondant was tiny and not good looking ….. , neither was the streudel and the taste was not there either. I again thank the staff who was nice but I have to say I was really disappointed. I am sorry for this poor review. It is a typical place in lovely Grimentz though.
Absolutely incredible! I’ll never forget this meal! Beautiful presentation and amazing flavours, wonderful and clever use of flower fauna, this place is a very well kept secret. Finished off perfectly with stunning scenery. Definitely worth the trip up!
A part from the food you are expecting to find in a Swiss mountain restaurant, they serve refined dishes with high quality ingredients. The staff is very welcoming and the decor is warm en inviting. Great way to finish a week on the slopes.
