First off, the location is stunning - especially from the terrace perched above the Tarn. Service is good, friendly and attentive without ever being pushy. Before addressing the food, readers should bear in mind that this review is based on the price level and the expectations that this carries. If you're looking for Michelin starred gastronomic innovations you're in the wrong place and the wrong price bracket. The pâté we started with was homemade and very, very good. I had trout for the maincourse. The fish was lightly spiced with some salt and pepper and served with lime to squeeze over - exactly what you'd want when the fish is fresh and of good quality as it were here. The trout was cooked to perfection with crispy skin and meat that fell off the bone, yet not cooked a second more than necessary. The homemade fries it came with were great, not just good but great. The dessert menu is perhaps a bit underwhelming but the cheeses looked great. In short, this restaurant does not offer elaborate, extravagant dishes or a very wide selection - but what they do offer is done just right. The same goes for the wine list, short, regional and clearly well thought out (we had a very nice Gaillac). The value here is great, and you'd have a hard time finding cheaper coffee and pastis anywhere in France.
