I was really disappointed by this place. They say they close at 9:00, we got there at 8:00, yet they would not allow us to drink at the bar. They said only the retail area was open. A group of our friends had gone in a bit earlier, and they were allowed to go to the bar but the employees were openly complaining about them coming in. I remember the last time we were in Chattanooga four years ago we had a similar experience where they kept telling us the bar wasn't open. The whiskey might be amazing but we would never know because they apparently close an hour earlier than they claim.
Walked in and was greeted by a testy employee. By greeted, what I mean was ignored, while being looked up and down. Approached the two digital registers and was asked who are you with? Interesting approach. The follow up was what do you need? I asked about grabbing a drink. I was informed we offer tastings only. Ok. Then was told, 21+ only in the tasting room. Not 21+ to drink, 21+ to be in the room. To be clear, this is their policy. It 's not a city, county, or state ordinance. We declined, left, and wheat across the street to Gate 11.
I bought their whiskey at Costco a while ago and liked it. I was in town about two weeks ago for a weekend trip. Since I love touring distilleries, it was a must to stop here. Had a great time! Tour was about 30 minutes (not a huge facility) and then the tasting part. The samples were great! Nice location in downtown, too.
We did a tour here the other day and it was SO great. Emma was our tour guide and she was not only super knowledgeable, but SO dear. We learned a lot and tasted some awesome whiskey. Felt like we were friends with the staff by the end! Great decor, too overall great vibe. Def do the tour! It pays for itself!
