This may be one of the strangest stays we 've ever had... We were excited to stay here; old castle/Chateau feel, beautiful grounds, bar and restaurant all within a short drive of the city...except most of that was untrue. Found the place fine with GPS, pulled in but not a sole around. Most of the common rooms didn 't have furniture, nobody manning the reception desk, no guests, no cars; truly odd. We finally found a cleaning lady who had just finished cleaning a room separate from the main house. She spoke no English so that was a bit difficult. She tracked down someone who was doing some maintenance and he Checked us in to the room she had just cleaned. At least it was clean; the bleach smell and all. I poked my head in the bar and the restaurant (at opposite ends of the main house) and not a table set up in either one. This place really looked like it was going out of business or was just opening (and weeks away at that). The grounds are beautiful. The staff (once we found them) were nice. Maybe someday this will be a nice place to stay.

We unexpectedly stumbled across La Table de la Cheze, whilst driving from UK to Spain. Our overnight stop was in Bordeaux. To say it was the greatest surprise to find such an amazing restaurant in Flourac would be an understatement. From the moment we arrived Charles took great care of us, despite our lack of the French language. This charming restaurant is closed at weekends, so do make an effort to visit it Monday to Friday. The owner chef JB Levy and his girlfriend Marina Casero are a star team. We shared the rib of beef, it was a feast for two...the lemon desert was something else, we will absolutely look forward to taking friends there specifically to eat....it’s worth the trip from England. It will not be long before the rest of the world discovers it....Enjoy. Looking at their business card they’re on Facebook La Table du Chateaux

Modern, light and airy, friendly staff, but limited menu. They adapted a starter which enabled me to make a choice, mains were ok, and we shared a cafe-gourmand without the coffee! I bottle of nice wine, water and a beer, €109.00. Looking round, the room was a good size, but the scruffy tables should have been covered by a full size cloth instead of a drape. The chairs were all white plastic and would be best suited to an outside terrace. In total, we counted around 18 clients which was fair play for a Tuesday night. With a bit more spent on dining furniture, it may have been a better experience for the money.
